My research interests are in statistical signal processing,
communication and coding, and large-scale distributed systems. In
particular, I am interested in problems in sparse approximation,
dimensionality reduction, and distributed algorithms. My work is
motivated by applications in sensor networks and computing over
massive data streams, including databases, data center networks, and
the internet. Several facets of these problems pose major challenges,
such as the high dimensionality of modern data sets and the
increasingly distributed nature of data acquisition and storage.
