A repository of topical scholarly papers is maintained in the Computing Research Repository.

The following sites are general sources of news and information about computing:

CMP Net is targeted at information technology professionals. Particularly useful sites that it subsumes include Byte, Information Week, and Internet Week, and its Tech Encyclopedia .

CNET is a general source that emphasizes personal computing. In offers News.com.

ZDNet Online consolidates a number of personal computing magazines. Particularly useful is its ZD Webopaedia, an encyclopedia of computing.

Computing and networking companies often have useful resources at their homepages. Particularly look for "white papers", which are often excellent descriptions of new or emerging technologies. Computer companies include Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, and networking companies include CISCO, Lucent, Nortel Networks, and 3COM.
