Hi, my name is Kevin Peterson. I am currenty an algorithm design engineer at Nest Labs in Palo Alto, CA. At Nest, I design and prototype algorithms and features that enable the realization of the conscious home. Before Nest, I earned my Ph.D in electrical engineering at UC Berkeley working with Professor Ron Fearing in the Biomimetic Millisystems Lab. My dissertation focused on designing and building a hybrid aerial and terrestrial robots, and understanding the underlying dynamics of interaction between aerodynamic and terradynamic forces.
In addition to my work at Nest, I also co-founded Dash Robotics, Inc. during my final year of graduate school. Dash is the world's first lightning-fast origami robot that you can build yourself. Based on our Ph.D. research, its animal-inspired design allows us to offer a fun, high performance robot while keeping the cost affordable.
