Hi,
I'm Hari Palaiyanur. I am now a 4th(!)
year EECS grad student at Berkeley in the Wireless Foundations
group.
Research
I
like the research area of communications and am generally interested in
mathematics and probability theory.
I
work with Professor Anant Sahai.
We started working on sequential decoding for anytime communication,
which was the subject of my Master's thesis. After that, we worked on a
problem stemming from Berger's `Source Coding Game', i.e. source coding
for an arbitrarily varying source.
I
am grateful to Vodafone US Foundation for providing me with a
fellowship during my first two years in graduate school.
Also, I gratefully acknowledge NSF for support since then.
About
Me
I
was born in Chennai, India but have lived most of my life in the US. As of 7/9/2003, I am a U.S. citizen. As of 8/30/2005, I am officially a California
resident. I went to TAMS
for high school; it was really fun. I was an undergrad in ECE
at Cornell; also fun.
In
my spare time, I like playing basketball, and of course watching NBA
games and college games. I follow most
sports on ESPN.com. Recently, since the Cal team is really good,
I've gotten into college football. I also
volunteer a bit at the Berkeley East Bay Humane Society. I was the treasurer for EEGSA
academic years 2005-2006 and 2006-2007.
