I plan to take on 1-2 new Ph.D. students over the next academic year. If you are a current/prospective graduate student with a strong quantitative background and think your interests are compatible with mine, please feel free to contact me. I apologize in advance if I am not able to respond to all inquiries.
On Feb. 26, I will be giving a talk at the 2014 International Zurich Seminar on Communications.
Together with Tsachy Weissman, I am organizing an invited session at the 48th Annual Conference on Information Sciences and Systems, held at Princeton University. This session will feature research supported by the NSF Center for Science of Information.
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at UC Berkeley. Before joining Berkeley, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the NSF Center for Science of Information, and spent much of that time at Stanford University. I received my Ph.D. from UCLA in 2012. My research interests are in the area of information theory, broadly defined.
