Berkeley, CA 94720-1776 Some facts about me:
- I moonlight as a professional photogapher, where I shoot concerts, bands and weddings.
- I have BAs in Geography and Psychology from UC Berkeley (2006), and a postgraduate certificate in graphic design from UC Berkeley Extension (2008).
- Necessity dictates that my music and my socks be equally loud. Stop by the office sometime and you will see what I mean.
- I am obsessed with music, particularly British bands such as Blur, Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, The Libertines, etc. My favorite band is We Are Scientists. My husband and I have attended the Coachella Valley Arts & Music Festival in Indio, CA every year since 2004, and I dream of someday attending Glastonbury.
- I was born in Los Angeles, but grew up primarily in Beaverton, Oregon.
- I am a proud, if not a bit oddball, alum of Marlborough School in Los Angeles, where I spent my last two years of high school.
- I married my husband Scott on August 14th, 2006 on the island of Moloka'i in Hawai'i, which was one week after I joined the staff at EECS.
- I really love science fiction and fantasy novels and television shows. Among my all-time favorites are Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Babylon 5, Orson Scott Card's Ender series, Harry Potter, Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials series, and Dune. For the past few months, Scott and I have been watching Star Trek:Voyager
- I am an anglophile to the core. I come from a long line of short, pale, crooked-toothed Brits, though we've all been here for a while—I can trace my lineage back to the Mayflower. I know, go ahead and make fun of me now!
- Scott and I live in San Francisco with our three incredible cats—Jeffy, Zeke, & Mogli.
- My favorite cities outside of the US are (so far) London, England and Rome, Italy. In the States, I love San Francisco, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, Portland, Boston, and Providence in particular.
- I love everything associated with the ocean and marine life. I also have very good snorkel luck! The first time I snorkeled, I encountered a spotted eagle ray in 3 feet of water.
- I am a Gemini and an INFJ. What are you?
- My not-so-distant ancestor wrote Taps (see Daniel Butterfield).
- I love football. Capital L Love. I particularly love college football (GO BEARS!) but pro football will do as well. I have loved football since I was a small child.
- I also love watching gymnastics (I used to be a not-very-talented gymnast), figure skating, skiing and other snow sports, and swimming.
- I am a writer, and have participated in National Novel Writing Month for three years so far: 2002, 2003, and 2006.
