Berkeley Engineering Stars in Technology (BEST) is a new annual workshop that brings together prominent Berkeley Engineering faculty, alumni and students who aspire to become leaders in technology, for information exchange and mutual inspiration. Invited speakers will share their personal experiences as well as their perspectives on challenges and opportunities in technology today, and offer advice to undergraduate and graduate students, particularly for overcoming barriers to professional success for underrepresented minorities.

The objective of the workshop is to showcase the accomplishments of outstanding Berkeley Engineering alumni and to encourage and support students from diverse backgrounds to pursue careers in engineering. The inaugural workshop of this series will celebrate the accomplishments and discuss challenges for African-American engineers.

Invited speakers will include technology industry executives as well as university educators with experience in government and/or administration. Undergraduate and graduate engineering students from UC Berkeley and other universities in the San Francisco Bay Area are invited to attend.
