Dr. Gwan Choi is a Professor from Texas A&M University. He is doing research on "Functional verification of Hardware/Software Co-Design using coverages" in the lab of Prof. Edward Lee. He will be with us from May 01, 2002 until December 01, 2002.

Dr. Tae-Hun Chung

Dr. Tae Hun Chung is working with Professor Lawrence Stark on the issues of physics and applications of electronegative plasma discharges. Numerical modeling and simulation of various plasma sources used in semiconductor processing. He is with us from March 01, 2002 until February 28, 2003.

Dr. Mika Kuulusa

Dr. Claudio Privitera

Dr. Claudio Privitera has been a Visiting Scholar working with Professor Lawrence Stark pursuing research projects concerning bottom-up image processing and in particular, families of algorithms that might produce results for specific tasks and for specific types of pictures, thereby imitating some functions of human vision. He has been with us since August 15, 2000 and will stay until August 16, 2003.

Yuping Tian

Yuping Tian is visiting Professor Leon O. Chua from January 01, 2002 until December 31, 2002. He is here to study complex dynamics including chaos and bifurcations in engineering systems and networks; study nonlinear control theory and its application to chaos control and synchronization; study possibility of application of chaos control and synchronization techniques in information processing.

Dr. Johan Driesen

Johan Driesen worked with Professor Seth Sanders from January 07, 2002 until July 07, 2002.  His research was in design, use and control of power electronic systems containing energy storage in the form of a high-speed flywheel-motor/generator combination are studied.  It is aimed to investigate the further application capabilities of this technology in fixed, electricity grid connected systems, thereby optimizing the energy delivery of irregular distributed sources such as renewable energy sources, and enhancing the power quality and supply reliability by adding other functionalities.

Dr. Rowena Guevara

From September 01, 2001 until February 28, 2002, Rowena Guevara stayed in the EECS Department as a visiting scholar for Professor Nelson Morgan.  Her research was in perceptual coding of speech to develop a low-bit rate speech coder.

Dr. Pedro Julian

Dr. Pedro Julián was working with Dr. Leon O. Chua on Cellular Nonlinear Networks cell design using Piecewise Linear structures, with an emphasis on nanotechnology based implementations. He was a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley from July 2000 until July 2002.

Hyongsuk Kim

Hyongsuk Kim is an associate professor of Chunbuk National University and currently with Nonlinear Electronic Lab. He is developing image processing and optimal path planning technology with Cellular Neural Networks. The CNN algorithm and its analog circuit design are the area of his major concern. He is visiting Professor Leon O. Chua from January 14, 2000 until January 13, 2002.

Yung-Chii Liang

In November 05, 2001, Dr. Yung-Chii Liang joined Professor Seth Sanders' group as a visiting scholar.  He did research in the power electronic group, in particular, to develop the device and process technology related to power semiconductor structures and smart power integration. His activities can also be extended to on-wafer passive microdevices, such as micro-actuators, tunable capacitors, and other MEMS structures.  Dr. Liang stayed in Berkeley until October 31, 2002.

Andreas Willig

From July 2001 until July 2002, Andreas Willig was a visiting scholar for Professor Jan Rabaey and the BWRC.  He did research in MAC- and link layer issues in the PicoRadio wireless sensor network, performance evaluation of MAC protocols.
