Computer Support
Most computing services in the department are coordinated through the groups that make up Instructional & Research Information Systems (IRIS). These groups include the EECS general computing Helpdesk, the Computer User Support Group (CUSG), the Infrastructure Development & Support Group (IDSG), the Instructional & Electronics Support Group (IESG), and the Information Management Group (IMG). See the IRIS website for more information about these groups and the services they provide.
The Administrative Computing Group (ACG) handles computing support for the EECS Staff, and maintains web/database applications for the EECS Department and College of Engineering.

Copy Cards
Cory and Soda Halls
Our public copiers are managed by the Soda Hall front desk coordinator in 387 Soda Hall. The copy cost is $0.04 per page. The copiers are located in 384 Soda, 280 Cory, and 532 Cory. Any questions can be sent to cs-copiers@cs.
Faculty and staff cards for the Soda and Cory copiers are distributed from 367 Soda Hall by Amber Gregory (amber@eecs). Drop-ins are welcome between 8-12 noon and 1-3:30 p.m. and e-mail requests will be completed within one business day.
TAs may borrow a copy card for same-day use for any instructional support copying:
- To borrow a Soda copy card, please see Kali Mills in 387 Soda Hall, or Bennett Agnew in 385 Soda. If they are not available, please see Gabe Chang in 375 Soda, or Josephine illiamson in 383 Soda.
- To borrow a Cory copy card, please visit the front desk in 253 Cory Hall.
If faculty wish to pay for copies out of their research funds, they can authorize a student to acquire one through their RSOs. The RSO/PI must provide the amount and the corresponding COA to bill the cost. All requests must be made to Amber Gregory (amber@eecs).
Copy card requests will not be processed without a chart of account (research or discretionary funding source) and for copying purposes that are not related to campus/department research or academic business needs.

Instructional Support
For all Instructional Support requests (i.e. copy requests, document preparation, grade changes, desk copies) please email the administrative support alias: eecs-inst-support@eecs. Please do not send your requests to individual staff members, but use the alias in order to ensure timely responses.
All copy requests should be e-mailed to eecs-inst-support@eecs at least 48 hours in advance to allow staff to schedule work and to allow time to deal with broken copiers and other unforeseen problems. Please include the following information:
- Course number
- Time and date needed
- Preferred pick-up location (faculty mailbox, Cory or Soda Front Desk)
- Printing instructions if, for example, the file consists of single slides that should be printed 2- or 4-up on a page

- how many copies,
- single/double-sided,
- finishing (e.g., stapled, three-hole punch)
Please note that the department does not have color copiers on site. All requests for color copies have to be approved by the EECS Finance Manager, and will need to be sent out. Allow more time, accordingly.

Kresge Engineering (Bechtel) Library
The Kresge Engineering Library is located in the Bechtel Engineering Center, between Cory and Evans Halls (the building highlighted in pink on the map of NE campus). UC Berkeley students, faculty and staff use their UC Berkeley campus ID or UC Berkeley Registration Card as a library card.
Visiting Scholars and Visiting Industrial Fellows should see the Tamiko George in 253 Cory Hall, 3-4976, for applications and explanations of the basic levels of service.

Lost and Found
Items are kept until the end of the calendar year at which time they are taken to the Campus Police in the basement of Sproul Hall. UCPD keeps lost items for a very short period.
Cory Hall
Lost items may be turned in or retrieved in 253 Cory Hall. Lost keys should be turned in to 253 Cory Hall.
Soda Hall
Lost items may be turned in or retrieved in 387 Soda Hall.

We ask that you do not have legal or personal business mail such as bank statements or Motor Vehicles notices sent to the department. Outgoing mail needs a barcode in order to leave campus. Visiting scholars may get permission to charge mail to their host professor's grant.
Cory Hall
Questions regarding mail should be directed to the receptionist (eecsoffice@eecs). Visiting faculty and scholars in EE are assigned mailboxes on the second floor of Cory Hall in room 253.
Soda Hall
Questions regarding mail should be directed to the receptionist (csoffice@cs). CS visitors have mailboxes in room 396 Soda.

Office Supplies/Purchasing
Department office supplies can be given to staff, faculty and visiting faculty only. Please limit your use of these supplies as they are one of our biggest areas of expense.
Cory Hall
EE Faculty and Staff can obtain supplies for instruction from 253 Cory Hall. Faculty must provide their own supplies for research through their grants; see your grant administrator or administrative assistant for help. RAs, TAs, postdocs, visiting scholars and industrial fellows should request supplies from their faculty sponsor's assistant. Purchasing for instructional supplies and equipment in Cory Hall is handled by Lea Barker, leab@eecs, 2-2384, 253 Cory.
Soda Hall
Regular and visiting CS faculty and staff can obtain supplies for instruction from the CS Front Office, 387 Soda. Faculty must provide their own supplies for research through their grants; see your grant administrator or administrative assistant for help. RAs, TAs, postdocs, visiting scholars and industrial fellows should request supplies from their faculty sponsor's assistant. Purchasing for instructional supplies and equipment in Soda Hall is handled by the EECS Finance/Accounting Group, accounting@eecs.

Parking
Parking is available in the faculty-staff fee lot across the street from Cory Hall (designated Parking Structure H on the map of NE campus); you can enter from Ridge Rd. or La Loma. Other large lots are on upper Hearst Avenue just beyond the foothill dormitory and on lower Hearst Avenue, between Euclid and Arch Street. You need a parking permit to park in any campus lot during weekday business hours.
Hourly parking is also available at the lower Hearst UC Lot. At night or during the weekend it is possible to park without a permit, but you still have to pay. However, the campus and the community both discourage the use of private cars for travel to and from campus. Use of alternative transportation is highly encouraged.

Cory Hall
Detailed information on public and disabled parking is available on the department Parking web page. Contact the Cory Hall receptionist, eecsoffice@eecs (253 Cory) for an application form. The receptionist also handles parking reservations for EECS Cory visitors.
Soda Hall
Information on parking is available for Soda Hall affiliates. Contact the Soda Hall receptionist, csoffice@cs (387 Soda).

Payroll and Pay Dates
Cory and Soda Halls
Staff, Faculty, and Visiting Faculty are paid on the first of each month. There is often a delay in receiving your first check, however, if you have a first time campus appointment. You may ask your Academic Personnel Assistant for the expected date of your first check. EECS staff should contact the Payroll and Benefits Administrator, payroll@eecs (337 Soda, 2-0544) for further assistance.
For those who receive pay via direct deposit, pay statements are put in in mailboxes. Paper pay statements are distributed only for those who have elected to receive a paper copy.

Public Printers
Most printers in Cory and Soda Halls are NOT publically available (i.e. should not be used by students). Please only use the printers listed below.
Cory HallThere are no public printers in Cory Hall at this time. Printers are provided only for individual groups (please see your supervisor). The instructional printers located on the 2nd floor of Cory Hall are maintained by IESG, inst@eecs. |
Soda HallThere are four public printers in Soda Hall (lws384, lws384_duplex, lws682 and lws730). These printers are for instructional use only. Please do not use this resource for your personal printing.

FedEx and UPS items should be packaged in express envelopes and accompanied by the appropriate mailing form. You will need a fund or grant number to complete the forms. Grads and visitors: If you need assistance, ask your faculty sponsor's assistant.

You may leave outgoing FedEx packages in:
- 266 Sutardja Dai (last pick-up is at 4 pm)
- 253 Cory (last pick-up is at 3 pm)
- 387 Soda (last pick-up is 3:30 pm)
- Packaging envelopes and forms are stored in 384 Soda and 253 Cory.
FedEx also has drop boxes in the Etcheverry lobby by the elevators (pickup time is 4:30) and one in front of the Evans Hall.
UPS
You may leave outgoing packages in 266 Sutardja Dai Hall
(pick-up is at 2:00 pm). There is also an UPS drop-box at
the NW corner of Hearst and Euclid.

Telephone
Cory and Soda Halls
The Department has an established telephone policy; in general, your office phone should be used for your official campus business. If you need to make personal calls that result in charges of greater than $2 per month, you should reimburse the Department for those calls. Faculty members often pay for their visiting scholars' phones, but please check with your host faculty member in advance to be sure you have an understanding of the expectations.
