Computer Support
Most computing services in the department are coordinated through the groups that make up Instructional & Research Information Systems (IRIS). These groups include the EECS general computing Helpdesk, the Administrative Computing Group (ACG), the Computer User Support Group (CUSG), the Infrastructure Development & Support Group (IDSG), the Instructional & Electronics Support Group (IESG), and the Information Management Group (IMG). Copy cards
Cory and Soda Halls
Our public copiers are managed by Audrey Raya in 385 Soda Hall. The copy cost is $0.03 per page. Faculty and grant administrators can request copy cards by sending an e-mail to 385-soda@cs. Students, staff, and visitors must complete a copy card request form (available from 253 Cory and outside of 385 Soda) to receive a card. This form must have a valid chart string and be signed by a grant administrator or faculty member before the card can be issued.
Cards for the Soda and Cory copiers will be distributed from 385 Soda Hall. Drop-ins are welcome between 8-12 noon and e-mail requests will be completed within one business day. The copiers are located in 384 Soda, 682 Soda, 280 Cory, and 532 Cory. Any questions can be sent to 385-soda@cs.

FAX Machines
Cory Hall
New, Visiting and EE Faculty should consult with their secretaries of the availability of FAX Machines in Cory Hall; FAX machines are available on every floor. You may receive FAX messages in 253 Cory Hall; the FAX number is 642-2845. The receptionist in EE will place FAX messages in your mailbox.
Soda Hall
There is a FAX machine for Visitors in the CS Division administrative office, 395 Soda Hall, which can be used between the hours of 8-12 and 1-5 Monday through Friday. The fax number is (510) 642-5775.
If you receive an incoming FAX message, the receptionist in CS will place it in your mailbox. To make an outgoing FAX in the CS Division, you will need an authorization code.

Kresge Engineering (Bechtel) Library
The Kresge Engineering Library is located in the Bechtel Engineering Center, between Cory and Evans Halls (map of NE campus). UC Berkeley students, faculty and staff use their UC Berkeley campus ID or UC Berkeley Registration Card as a library card.
Visiting Scholars and Visiting Industrial Fellows should see the Visiting Scholar assistants for applications and explanations of the basic levels of service.
EE Visiting Scholars:

CS Visiting Scholars:

Lost and Found
Items are kept for approximately ten days and then taken or mailed to Campus Police in the basement of Sproul Hall. UCPD keeps lost items for a very short period.
Cory Hall
Lost items may be turned in or retrieved in 253 Cory Hall. Lost keys should be turned in to 253 Cory Hall.
Soda Hall
Lost items may be turned in or retrieved in 387 Soda Hall.

We ask that you do not have legal or personal business mail such as bank statements or Motor Vehicles notices sent to the department. Outgoing mail needs a barcode in order to leave campus. See the secretary assigned to you to get the proper labels. Visiting scholars may get permission to charge mail to their host professor's grant.

Office Supplies/Purchasing
Department office supplies can be given to staff, faculty and visiting faculty only. Please limit your use of these supplies as they are one of our biggest areas of expense.
Cory Hall
EE Faculty and Staff can obtain supplies for instruction from 253 Cory Hall. Faculty must provide their own supplies for research through their grants; see your grant administrator or administrative assistant for help. RAs, TAs, postdocs, visiting scholars and industrial fellows should request supplies from their faculty sponsor's assistant. Purchasing for instructional supplies and equipment in Cory Hall is handled by Rosita Alvarez-Croft, rosita@eecs, 3-4976, 253B Cory.
Soda Hall
Regular and visiting CS faculty and staff can obtain supplies for instruction from Alexandra Falchi, 385 Soda. Faculty must provide their own supplies for research through their grants; see your grant administrator or administrative assistant for help. Parking
Parking is available in the faculty-staff fee lot across the street from Cory Hall (designated Parking Structure H on the map of NE campus); you can enter from Ridge Rd. or La Loma. Other large lots are on upper Hearst Avenue just beyond the foothill dormitory and on lower Hearst Avenue, between Euclid and Arch Street. You need a parking permit to park in any campus lot during weekday business hours.
Hourly parking is also available at the lower Hearst UC Lot. At night or during the weekend it is possible to park without a permit, but you still have to pay. However, the campus and the community both discourage the use of private cars for travel to and from campus. Use of alternative transportation is highly encouraged.

Detailed information on public and disabled parking is available on the department Parking web page. Contact the Cory Hall receptionist, eecsoffice@eecs (253 Cory) for an application form. The receptionist also handles parking reservations for EECS Cory visitors.

Payroll and Pay Dates
Cory Hall/Soda Hall
Staff, Faculty, and Visiting Faculty are paid on the first of each month. There is often a delay in receiving your first check, however, if you have a first time campus appointment. You may ask your Academic Personnel Assistant for the expected date of your first check. EECS staff should contact the Payroll and Benefits Administrator, payroll@eecs (339 Soda, 2-0544) for further assistance.
For those who receive pay via direct deposit, pay statements are put in in mailboxes. EECS staff receiving actual checks must pick them up from the receptionist in 253 Cory Hall or from Audrey Raya in 367 Soda Hall.

Public Printers
Please Note: Most printers in Cory and Soda Halls are NOT publically available (i.e. should not be used by students). Please only use the printers listed below.
Cory Hall
There are no public printers in Cory Hall at this time. Printers are provided only for individual groups (please see your supervisor). The instructional printers located on the 2nd floor of Cory Hall are maintained by IESG, inst@eecs.
Soda Hall
There are three public printers in Soda Hall (lws384, lws510, and lws730). These printers are for instructional use only. Please do not use this resource for your personal printing.

Shipping/Receiving
FedEx and UPS items should be packaged in express envelopes and accompanied by the appropriate mailing form. You will need a fund or grant number to complete the forms. Grads and visitors: If you need assistance, ask your faculty sponsor's assistant. There is an UPS drop-box at the NW corner of Hearst and Euclid. FedEx also has drop boxes in the Etcheverry lobby by the elevators (pickup time is 4:30) and one in front of the Hearst Mining Building.

You may leave Federal Express packages in the ERSO administrative offices in 197M Cory. Fedex packages are picked-up/delivered in the morning before 12 and there is no regularly scheduled afternoon pick-up. There is a UPS pick-up/delivery run on weekday mornings before 12 and an outgoing afternoon run to 197M, 406, 449 and 558 Cory Hall only. All incoming packages come in through the Receiving Office in 178 Cory Hall.

Social Hour
On Wednesday afternoons during the academic year the CS and EE Graduate Student Associations host a weekly social hour. Staff are most welcome to come meet our students, faculty and other staff. Food and drink are served.
Cory Hall
The EEGSA social hour is at 5:00 p.m. outside the Moore Room (enter through the student lounge, 240 Cory).
Soda Hall
The CSGSA hosts their social hour at 3:00 in the Wozniak Lounge (430 Soda).

Telephone
Cory Hall/Soda Hall
The Department has an established telephone policy; in general, your office phone should be used for your official campus business. If you need to make personal calls that result in charges of greater than $2 per month, you should reimburse the Department for those calls. Faculty members often pay for their visiting scholars' phones, but please check with your host faculty member in advance to be sure you have an understanding of the expectations.

Typing services are available for faculty and visiting faculty. Please consult with your secretary regarding lead time and priorities. If your assigned secretary is not available, bring your work to the office supervisor.

Soda Hall
Visitors with offices in Soda Hall should give their typing directly to the Business Manager in 383 Soda.
