Our goal is to develop a collection of analysis modules that will help designers to extract from an unstructured, hierarchically flat geometric boundary representation some structured, higher-level representations with a reasonable set of variable parameters to capture not just the one given artifact, but a whole family of closely related shapes, that make it easy to introduce design modifications and enhancements. Our system, composed of a collection of generative modules, held together by an overall optimization framework will discover plausible approaches for the construction of a given geometrical shape. It will return to the user a decomposition of the given object into parts that are individually modeled with a small set of parameterized geometry generators.
