The Collaborative Center for Internet Epidemiology and Defenses (CCIED, "SeaSide") is a joint effort between researchers at UCB/ICSI (International Computer Science Institute) and UC San Diego. CCIED addresses the critical challenges posed by large-scale subversion of Internet hosts, such as botnets and worms. CCIED efforts focus on analyzing the behavior and limitations of Internet pathogens, devising early-warning and forensic capabilities, and developing technologies that can automatically defend against new outbreaks in real-time.
