We consider the model of a road as a Euler beam with an elastic foundation. The objective of the problem is to identify the parameters, such as weight, of a moving load on the road. One-dimensional and two-dimensional models for the dynamics are considered. Centralized as well as decentralized algorithms for identification and their performance analysis under a variety of uncertainty models are studied. The optimal placement of sensors will be addressed.
