Viability of Future CMOS Technology Replacements

As CMOS scaling seems to be approaching an end, alternative transistor device structures are being examined as potential replacements. New devices like Carbonnanotube FETs and Spintronic Transistors are currently being researched and analyzed for device performance.

One critical issue with these new devices in digital circuits is the low on to off current ratios. Low on to off current ratios can significantly affect the robustness in digital circuits. This research attempts to examine digital circuit robustness as a function of on to off current ratios in order to determine the viability of these new devices in a myriad of digital circuits.
