CRA-W GRAD COHORT WORKSHOP TO BE HELD FEBRUARY 6-7, 2004 IN SEATTLE, WA
The workshop, modeled on the CRA-W's successful Academic Careers Workshop, will bring women students in the first year of graduate school together with senior researchers. The senior researchers will share pertinent information on the transition from student to researcher as well as more personal information and insights about their experiences. All participants - students and researchers - will attend a mix of formal presentations, informal discussions, and social events, making it possible for students to build mentoring relationships and develop peer networks. THE RICHARD TAPIA CELEBRATION OF DIVERSITY IN COMPUTING CONFERENCE, OCTOBER 15-18, 2003
The conference honored the seminal contributions of Dr. Richard A. Tapia, the first recipient of the A. Nico Habermann Award, to the growth of diversity in computing and related disciplines. The conference, co-sponsored by CRA, was held October 15-18, 2003, in Atlanta, Georgia. Its theme was "Building Diverse Leadership in Computing."
DR SANDRA K. JOHNSON: SPECIAL WICSE SPEAKER, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24, NOON, WOZNIAK LOUNGE
Dr. Johnson earned her BS Summa Cum Laude from Southern University, and her Ph.D. from Rice University. She is a researcher at the IBM Silicon Valley Research Center , San Jose, CA, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Computing Research Association and the Coalition to Diversify Computing. She has conducted research and published in a number of high-end computer science areas. Read more about Dr. Johnson.
