Teams of five will go head to head in rigorous events: Lego Building, Puzzles and "Athletic" contests. Also, we will test your knowledge of Computer Science, Math, and Geek Culture. Inviting All UC Berkeley Students, Faculty and Staff to Apply by April 1

The Venture Lab CLEAN TECH Innovation Prize seeks to recognize and bring together UC Berkeley engineers and scientists working on applied research and technology with commercial potential in the field of clean technology. Prizes will be awarded to teams that best demonstrate an innovative solution to one of today’s pressing clean technology problems. The competition’s winners will receive recognition for the work; more than $20,000 in cash awards and prizes; and strategic networking opportunities with venture capitalists and industry leaders.

The competition is open to all UC Berkeley faculty, students, and staff as well as the staff of the Lawrence Berkeley Labs. Cal alumni and others may also participate if at least one team member is currently affiliated with UC Berkeley.

It’s VERY EASY to Apply: Applications due April 1 Semifinalists will be announced on April 3. On the evening of April 8, semifinalist teams will make short presentations to a panel of judges from the clean tech community followed by an in-depth Q&A and the announcement of the winners.

The Association of State Dam Safety Officials is pleased to announce its 2008 Dam Safety Scholarship Program.

As a national association dedicated to furthering dam safety in the United States, ASDSO has an integral interest in developing future leaders in the field of dam safety engineering. Up to $10,000 is available for the 2008-2009 school year.

We are seeking a MSEE new graduates or BSEE graduates with at least one year of work or Intern experience to join our Electrical Characterization & Verification Group in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division. This person will work on products that help save and pro-long people’s lives. Within the first six months, this person will become familiar with pacer and ICD products through hands-on bench testing, communication with team members inside and across groups, and supplement training classes. Within twelve months this person will understand what it takes to effectively characterize and verify implantable devices and gain knowledge of pacer and ICD product design including exposure to electrical, mechanical, firmware, ATE, system, and clinical areas. This position offers a tremendous opportunity for growth and career development.

Required Skills:

BSEE, at least one year work experience, very comfortable with using lab equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, frequency generators, etc.), knowledge of C coding language, understanding of basic analog and digital circuit concepts, enjoys hands-on work, actively engages with team and across functions, motivated to learn about and contribute to biomedical product development, ability to pick thing up quickly and desire to take things on independently. Redux- Brent-
Founded in late 2006, Redux is a venture backed startup whose goal is to be the pioneer in the People Discovery category. Redux taps into the basic human need to connect, combining a unique software algorithm with a compelling media experience. Job Requirements: Our engineers use a mix of PC (running Vista and XP) and Apple workstations, although the development environment is FreeBSD. As far as development environments go, a strong UNIX background will be sufficient. Engineers should have incredibly strong Javascript and CSS skills, with Python, AJAX, DHTML.

Justin.tv- Michael-
Justin.tv is building the destination site for broadcasting and watching live video online while chatting with friends. The Justin.tv live video network is powered by Python Media Server - a custom built live streaming video server cluster. The network can support thousands of live broadcasts and over 100,000 simultaneous viewers and is 100% owned and operated by Justin.tv. The Justin.tv chat system is powered by the JTV Twisted Chat Server - a custom built chat server that implements a wide variety of filtering and moderation techniques and relays well over a million messages a day.

Kinfo-Daniel-
Kinfo is a venture-funded Web startup building a unique media sharing and social networking application for the family. We're small (7 employees at this point) but growing. Everyone contributes on multiple levels--product definition and business tactics as well as coding--and we have a lot of fun. Job Requirements: We're looking for smart people who want to do Web development using Ruby on Rails. We'd love it if you were already at least playing with Rails, but if you've done projects in Python, PHP or Java and are interested in learning, we'll teach you. Experience with JavaScript, DHTML and CSS is highly desirable; experience with MySQL (or other RDBMS) and AJAX or Flash/Flex is a plus. Both summer internships and full-time positions are available.
