Nano-Optoelectronic Workshop (NOW)
August 21-23, 2005, UC Berkeley
|
||
About CONSRTCONSRT is a ground-breaking, DARPA-funded, nano-opto center (7/2004– 7/2008) with 10 professors from 6 universities and expertise ranging from materials, physics, chemistry, and devices. CONSRT’s vision is to advance nanostructured optoelectronic materials and devices to enable breakthrough functionalities in sensing, imaging, processing and communication microsystems with greatly reduced power, size, and weight. Workshop ScopeThis Workshop is to provide a forum to present the latest progress in nano-optoelectronic materials and devices research performed in CONSRT, as well as a networking platform to bring together researchers of nano-opto community. Five distinguished invited speakers will discuss nano-opto research funded by DARPA, recent advances of quantum dots research in Europe and Japan, and possible bio/medial applications. A panel of eminent scientists and industry leaders will lead in the discussion of “where is the light going?”, hopefully offering plenty of food for thought. The CONSRT professors will present tutorial-style talks providing broad overviews of their research in the nano-opto area, rather than limited to that funded by the DARPA University Photonics Research Program. The CONSRT students will present posters at the Workshop. The program is designed to provide ample time for in-depth discussion. A team-building wine-tasting tour is schedule for Monday afternoon, followed by a gala dinner in a renowned gourmet restaurant in Napa Valley. The topics include, but not limited to, the following:
We expect exciting discussions, invigorating debates and many interacting
opportunities, which hopefully will stimulate future collaboration possibilities
and spark a few new ideas for future breakthroughs. |
