EECS Introduction to PINE

PINE on Macs

If you wish to read mail on your Mac using PINE, you may run into a problem in which you are continually prompted to include a file every time you press your "Return" key. To solve this problem:

1. While in your telnet program (version 2.5 or later), pull down your "Edit" menu and select "Preferences" then "Sessions"

2. Select the machine on which you read mail (e.g. hera) and click the "Change" button.

3. Unclick the "Berkeley 4.3 CR mode" and "Allow line mode" options if either one of them is selected.

4. Click "OK"
