EE Student Review

Spring 2012 EE Grad Student Mini-Review - Due Friday, April 20, 2012 by 4:00pm.

The Fall semester mini-review is only for new graduate students and for students requiring a progress check in the Fall semester. Students who need to complete the Fall review will be notified directly.

The Spring semester review is required for all grad students.

For Students:

  • Make a 20-minute review appointment with your advisor (temporary or permanent). Please schedule a time with your advisor as soon as possible to complete the required form.
  • Fill out the online student progress questionnaire available through MY EECS INFO. Please submit this questionnaire on-line before the meeting with your advisor so your advisor can review the submitted information.

  • Meet with your advisor and complete the Student Progress Review form. You must print a blank form and take it to the meeting where you and your advisor will complete, sign and date it.

  • Return the completed Student Progress Review form to the Grad office in 215 Cory.

    For Advisors:

    Letter type assignments are due on Wednesday, April 25, 2012.

    Log on to the EECS Grad Student Review Database using your CalNet ID and passphrase.

    • "My Grad Students" will produce a list of your advisees (research and temporary) with basic information about admission and enrollment.
      • Students whose status fall outside the norm for any reason (displayed by hover pop-up: more than 15 semesters in program, no QE/Prelim/MS, low GPA, no research advisor after one year, etc.) are flagged with an asterisk (*). Please address the issue during the review.
      • Click on each student name to link to the "Review Summary." On the "Review Summary" screen you can view progress toward degree, assign letter types, and record your meeting. At minimum, you must record if you met (yes or no) and assign at least one letter type for each of your students (at the bottom of the student screen). Additionally, you may assign a second letter type, a P.S., and you are encouraged to write a brief comment (up to 1000 characters) in the "letter note" section. Don't forget to SAVE your entry!
      • From the individual student "Review Summary" screen, you can view the "Student Progress Questionnaire." Click on the link on the left side of the top navigation menu to review your student's progress since the last review. Your student should have electronically submitted this form PRIOR to your meeting.
      • Return to the individual student "Review Summary" screen (by clicking on the link on the left side of the top navigation menu) to record your meeting and assign a letter type.
      • During your advisor/student meeting, complete the Student Progress Review form, which is still in paper only. Both you and the student should sign and date this form and the student should submit it to the Grad Office.
    • "View All Students" allows the viewing and sorting of all registered grad students in the department.
    • "Search for Students" allows the viewing of an individual student record.
