RASHMI K. VINAYAK (K V RASHMI) Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science UC Berkeley rashmikv [at] eecs [dot] berkeley [dot] edu On Google Scholar. I am a third year Ph.D. student at UC Berkeley, researching on distributed data storage systems. My advisor is Prof. Kannan Ramchandran.
This academic year, my research is being supported by the Microsoft Research PhD fellowship. Thanks to Microsoft for the support ! My research during the last academic year was funded by Facebook through the Facebook Fellowship. Thanks to Facebook ! My research interests broadly lie in the areas of communications and computer science, with specific interest in networks, distributed systems, and coding and information theory. Currently, I am researching new encoding mechanisms for large-scale distributed storage systems, which can significantly improve their disk IO, network-bandwidth and storage efficiency. This summer, I interned at Microsoft Research Redmond. In summer 2012, I interned at Facebook, where I got a hands-on experience of large-scale distributed storage systems by working on the world's largest Hadoop cluster. Here is a simple (and fun!) introduction to my research work. Prior to joining Berkeley, I completed my Master's from the Indian Institute of Science, under the guidance of Prof. P. Vijay Kumar. | ||||
